How to Use Prepware Online for Instructors

First, be sure your Prepware account has been set up and connected to your school (see How to Setup Prepware School).

Instructor Dashboard

On the dashboard, you will see an instructor code in a gray box. You need to provide this code to your students for them to be able to connect to you.

You’ll also see a list of students currently connected to you. You can remove the connection to a student from this list, if needed.

Quizzes

Click Quizzes in the blue menu on the left side to see a list of your custom-built quizzes and a list of your custom-built questions. The three-dot menu for each quiz offers a number of functions—print, export, edit, delete, and statistics. Below is a brief explanation of how to create a new quiz using the Quiz Maker tool.

Custom Questions

Before you launch the Quiz Maker, determine if your quiz will include only existing ASA questions or custom questions written by you. If you want to include custom questions, you need to create them first. Either confirm the question already exists in your “My Custom Questions” list or click the “Create a new question” button. Your multiple-choice question can have up to 5 answer choices, can include an image, and can have a question time limit. Once all custom questions have been created, you can click the “Create a new quiz” button.

Quiz Maker

There are five steps in Quiz Maker, shown across the top of the window.

Certificate/Test

Choose the certificate and specific FAA test which your quiz will be relevant to. Click “Next step.”

ASA Questions

Search the ASA database for questions. You can view by subject or search by keyword, ACS/LSC code, or ASA question number. Search results will populate below and you can click the “Add” button for questions you want to include in your quiz. You can conduct multiple searches and continue to add questions. Click “Next step” in the top right.

Custom Questions

You can add any questions you want from your list of custom questions. Click “Next step.”

Preview

The left side of the preview screen shows a list of all the questions you have added. You can set the order and remove unwanted questions in the list.

The main pane of the preview screen displays the question as it will appear for the student taking the quiz. Click “Show explanation” to reveal the correct answer, explanation, and question data details. Use the list on the left to select questions to preview.

When you are done making changes, click “Next step.”

Settings

Give your quiz a name and choose your settings. Be sure to understand the difficulty levels described below.

Click “Save.” Your students will now see this quiz in their “My Instructor’s Quizzes” panel.

Scores

Click Scores in the blue menu on the left side to see a list of quizzes completed by your students and their scores. For each score, you can view the detailed results report and the performance chart to get more information on which questions the student answered correctly and incorrectly. You can reissue a quiz to allow a student to take it again, and you can delete scores that are no longer needed. You can also export all scores as CSV.

Study

ASA Study Guides are short, succinct summaries by subject of the knowledge required for the FAA Test. Students have access to these (for their specific certificate) in their Prepware Online account. These are not replacements for comprehensive textbooks, but can be helpful refreshers.
